People in Seattle’s Crown Hill neighborhood told to boil water after main break

Water main breaks in Seattle's Crown Hill neighborhood

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Public Utilities is asking people who live in the Crown Hill neighborhood to boil their water following a water main break.

The break happened at 8th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 100th Street around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Approximately 3,000 households and businesses are affected.

The area affected by the break is listed below:

•South border: Northwest 83rd Street

•North border: Northwest Woodbine Way

•East border: 9th Avenue Northwest

•West border: Valmay Avenue Northwest to 23rd Avenue Northwest

SPU crews are working to repair the 16-inch water main and restore water service as quickly and safely as possible.

As a precaution, SPU is asking customers in the area to boil their water before drinking or use purchased bottled water.

SPU says the water is not showing signs of contaminants; the boil notice is a precaution.

The cause of the water main break is under investigation.
