Thousands of dollars in equipment stolen from Lynnwood tattoo shop

Ernesto Hurtado, the owner and operator of Wicked Boy Tattoo in Lynnwood, reported that someone broke into his shop and stole between $6,000-$8,000 worth of equipment and supplies.

“These aren’t just “things” they’re what l use every day to create art for my clients and keep my dream alive,” Hurtado wrote online. “As a small business, replacing everything on my own would take me a long time and would put my work on hold.”

Hurtado said the thief was able to smash the cover of a lockbox outside and obtain a master key to gain access to the building. He and other business owners were not even aware the property had a master key outside.

“They busted them out,” he told KIRO 7.

A masked man took tattoo equipment, valuable collectibles and a camera.

“Everything can be replaced,” Hurtado said. “You know, it’s not a problem. It’s more of like being violated.”

Hurtado said his friends and family have stepped up to help him in the aftermath, including loaning him gear to continue to work on clients in the meantime.

GoFundMe has been created to help offset the costs of replacements. On the page, Hurtado mentioned that security cameras got footage of the thief, and shared still images from those clips.

“It means the world just having people reach out with the donations, with the

amazing messages,” he said. “It means the world to me.”

Hurtado hopes sharing his story can make people more aware to keep their guards up.

KIRO 7 is waiting to hear back from police regarding suspect information.
