Northbound I-5 reopens after driver shot in leg by round from inside own car

A shooting that shut down northbound I-5 at Southcenter Friday was determined to have occurred inside the victim’s vehicle, according to the Washington State Patrol

Northbound Interstate 5 near Southcenter is reopening after a temporary shutdown caused by a shooting on the freeway, Washington State Patrol announced.

Troopers initially responded to a report of a person shot in the leg while traveling on northbound I-5.

The highway was fully closed in the Tukwila area during the investigation.

After further review, investigators determined the gunshot originated from inside the victim’s vehicle.

Authorities said there are no outstanding suspects or vehicles involved and confirmed there is no danger to the public.

Detectives are still investigating to determine exactly how the shooting occurred.

No additional injuries were reported.
