SEATTLE — A home in Ballard was shot up Sunday morning, and the woman who lives there believes it may have been politically motivated.
When officers with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) responded at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday to the 2800 block of Northwest 56th Street, they stated someone fired into a house with political signs in the window. These signs included support for Donald Trump, the Confederate flag, and “Blue Lives Matter.”
The woman, who doesn’t want to be named for privacy reasons, spoke to KIRO as her truck windows were being replaced. She has stickers of President Donald Trump, against former President Joe Biden, that read ‘Blue Lives Matter’ and stickers of the Confederate flag on her home and on her truck. The window with the stickers was shot at with at least three bullet holes visible Tuesday. The truck was also shot.
“That’s really scary I’m glad she’s okay,” one neighbor said who lives a few houses down from the home that was shot, “I’ve never heard of anything like that happening on this street, particularly definitely kind of out of pocket, out of the blue.”
SPD officers discovered that someone had placed multiple stickers with opposing viewpoints on the vehicle.
The woman says her home was also shot at New Years’ Eve 2023. She plans on increasing security around her home in response.
No injuries were reported in the shooting. SPD is investigating this as a possible bias-motivated crime. SPD’s bias crime unit has taken over the investigation.
No suspects have been named, nor a description given, as of this reporting.
