One juvenile injured in shooting outside Lincoln High School in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — The Tacoma Police Department (TPD) says one juvenile suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting outside Lincoln High School at around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Police do not have a suspect in custody, according to TPD.

“They came out, they’re talking about ‘*expletive* your gang’ and then they let some shots loose. And then everybody started running,’ said witness Cody Stephens.

Stephens told KIRO 7 he was picking up his little sister from school when the shooting happened.

“It’s crazy at a school. Sad to see, sad to see,” he said.

Following the shooting, the victim went to a local business to call 911, Tacoma Police Sgt. John Correa said.

“This stuff happens all the time so I’m honestly not shocked, so it’s really sad and it’s really unfortunate,” said nearby resident Mariah Johnston.

While police were responding to the scene, an officer was involved in a four-car collision, including with a school bus with no kids on board, Tacoma Police say.

The officer suffered minor injuries, Sgt. John Correa said.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
