Bellevue fight ends in shooting; 1 person critical

BELLEVUE, Wash. — One person is in critical condition following a shooting in Bellevue on Tuesday evening, which police say stemmed from an altercation.

Police say the shooting was reported around 4:45 p.m. at NE 4th Street and 120th Ave NE, near the Best Buy.

“One gunshot, everyone was like just running around,” said witness Wahida.

Wahida told KIRO 7 she was shopping inside Best Buy with her family when shots were fired.

“I can’t believe that in Bellevue this happened. Like it’s just unbelievable,” she said.

Police say they got multiple 911 calls about a shooting, which prompted an increased response.

“When you have that many people calling about gunshots being fired, we take it very seriously,” said Captain Shelby Scherer with Bellevue Police.

Sherer says two men got into an argument when one fired a gun and struck the other while he was driving a white truck.

When police arrived, they immediately shut down NE 4th Street in both directions.

The Best Buy and surrounding stores went into lockdown as a precaution.

“From the emergency exit. We went to a safe place. Luckily, the employee of Best Buy, they were really nice. They guided us through the exit,” said Wahida.

One person was taken into custody, and the victim is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

Multiple shots were fired, police told KIRO 7. It appears the shooting happened during a fight, but it’s unclear what started it, police said.

KIRO 7 will have updates as they become available.
