Four people stabbed to death on Key Peninsula, suspect shot and killed by deputy, sheriff says

KEY PENINSULA, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) says four people were killed in a stabbing on Tuesday morning near Purdy on the Key Peninsula.

At around 8:47 a.m., authorities received a call that a 32-year-old man was violating a protection order outside a home.

The sheriff’s office learned the protection order was not valid because it had not yet been served but deputies obtained the order en route to the scene.

At around 9:30 a.m., deputies received another call that the man had begun stabbing people outside the home, according to PCSO.

One deputy arrived and reported shots were fired at 9:33 a.m.

Authorities say three people were found dead at the scene and the fourth victim later died on the way to the hospital, PCSO said.

The suspect was shot and killed.

“Detectives are going to go door-to-door to piece together witness information to get this puzzle as complete as possible,” Shelbie Boyd with the Tacoma Police Department said.

Investigators have not confirmed the relationship between the suspect and victims.

The Pierce County Force Investigation Team has taken over the investigation.

This is a developing story.
