Car jumps open University Bridge in Seattle

A car jumped an open University Bridge Wednesday afternoon, according to Seattle Department of Transportation traffic cameras.

The incident happened at about 12:25 p.m.

According to Seattle police, they spotted a stolen car and followed the car to the bridge.

The driver of the stolen car broke one of the safety arms to hopped the partially open bridge and breaking an arm on the far side during their escape.

The car was found a short time later with a broken windshield and a destroyed undercarriage, presumably, police said, from landing on the far bridge after the jump.

The car was found near Northeast 42nd Street and Pasadena Place Northeast.

Police said the driver, who may be injured, was not found.

Guardian One was deployed to search the greenbelt area near where the car was found, but the driver was not located.
