RENTON, Wash. — On Friday, nearly 100 people gathered to remember two sisters and a 9-year-old girl murdered in Renton last weekend.
KIRO 7 spoke with the family of Jamie Lee Ray, 39, Darcey Ann Moore, 46, and Alexia, 9.
“We’re still in shock. It’s gonna take a while, it’s gonna take a long time, you know. Three family members – that’s a lot,” said Pablo Oatman, Moore’s eldest son.
Moore was a mother of eight, and Alexia was her youngest daughter.
Moore was also a grandmother to five grandchildren.
“Through life’s ups and downs, we know she cared deeply for all of us,” said the family.
They described Moore as someone who would light up any room she went into.
“Her laugh is something I’m always going to carry with me deep down in my heart. You know, she tried to be the best mother she could be to eight kids,” Pablo explained.
“Always crackin’ jokes, always be missed, always be missed,” said Armando Oatman, Moore’s son.
Alexia was known as the sweetest soul who loved to make TikTok videos.
“She was the sweetest soul. She was an always super happy child. You know, she loved her TikTok videos, she was just so so good at it. Her beautiful smile will always be remembered,” said Pablo.
The family described Alexia as a young girl who loves to dance.
“She was always so shy, and over the last year I think she was really starting to get her personality was really starting to blossom,” said Alexia’s aunt, Ashley Ray.
Ray was Moore’s sister, who was also a mother of eight. Her siblings described her as one of the strongest women they knew.
Ashley held back tears knowing both her sisters and niece were taken too soon.
“I just know we’re trying to be strong as a family and be here for each other in this situation, doing what we can to honor their life,” Ashley explained.
The family told KIRO 7 they want to eventually donate to foster care or domestic violence awareness organizations in their memories.
