Lake City SWAT

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department says SWAT and its Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) have taken a suspect into custody following a standoff with a man who they believed was armed and dangerous.

Police say someone called 911 around 6 a.m. saying the 51-year-old shot at a car on Lake City Way Northeast and then retreated inside his apartment.

Police said no one was injured in the shooting.

Law enforcement is asking people to avoid the area for the time being.

The man has a warrant out for failure to appear for assault and theft charges. He has previously been convicted for murder.

There is probable cause for the man’s arrest for investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and for a pending felony warrant.

Police worked on peaceful negotiations and that there is no risk to the public, that they are aware of.

He was taken into custody around 11:40 a.m. and no force was used.

This is a developing story.
