SEATTLE — Three people are dead, and four others are hurt, including a child, after a shooting at the Bite of Seattle event near the Space Needle.
The Seattle Police Department says two people were shooting at each other, and they have taken one into custody.
According to the department, officers are looking for the second person but don’t believe there is an immediate threat to the public.
Reports of gunshots came in around 6 p.m. The shooting happened right outside the Seattle Armory.
Police who were working in the area rushed in. Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis says the officers confronted the shooter and prevented more people from getting hurt.
Deaths and injuries
According to Assistant Police Chief Davis, seven people were shot at the event. Two were confirmed dead at the scene. A third, a woman, later died at the hospital.
A two-year-old boy, a 39-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old boy were also taken to Harborview Medical Center and are stable.
A 40-year-old woman with minor injuries declined transport to a hospital.
The injuries, according to Seattle Fire, involve the arm, leg, abdomen, and lower leg.

Closures & other impacts
The Seattle Center Monorail has confirmed that service is shut down for the remainder of Sunday. It will resume Monday at 7:30 a.m.
According to a post on Facebook, the Pacific Science Center said it will be closed Monday, and all general admission shows are canceled, and guests will be refunded.
