2-inch gas line ruptures in Fremont; nearby buildings evacuated

SEATTLE — Seattle Fire Department (SFD) crews responded to a natural gas leak in Fremont and certain buildings have been evacuated Friday morning.

At about 11 a.m., the gas leak is reported at Evanston Street and N 36th Street, near the 7-Eleven.

Buildings from Phinney Ave N. to Francis Ave N. have been evacuated as a safety precaution.

According to SFD, a two-inch gas line ruptured.

By 12:20 p.m., Seattle Fire secured the area and turned over the investigation to Puget Sound Energy.

No injuries were reported.
