2 killed in shooting at Lake City park; suspect sought

SEATTLE — Police are looking for a suspect accused of shooting and killing two people at a north Seattle park.

The shooting was reported just after 6 p.m. on Monday at Virgil Flaim Park in Lake City, behind the Dick’s on Northeast 123rd Street.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting or if the victims and suspect knew each other.

The two men were shot outside an encampment at the park, though it’s unclear if the victims were living in the encampment or if they were visiting the park.

One man died at the park, and the other died about an hour after arriving at Harborview Medical Center.

Both had multiple gunshot wounds, Seattle police said.

According to Seattle police, multiple officers, a police K9 team, and King County Sheriff’s Guardian One helicopter searched for the suspect.

As of Tuesday morning, police are continuing to look for a suspect. They have not provided a suspect description as of this writing.

They did ask for the public’s help in this investigation, writing:

“Solving crimes wouldn’t be possible without the department’s strong ties with the greater Seattle community. If anyone has information, they are asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.”
