Reporter

I’m Nia Bliss, a Murrow Award-winning journalist with KIRO 7 since 2026. Join me on KIRO 7 News from 4-7 pm and 11 pm. Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay to be specific), occasionally spending summers with family in South Korea. Why did you become a journalist? I started my journalism career interviewing indie rock artists and dipping my toe into concert photography but while those days are long gone, I've found my curiosity and desire to help others keeps me committed to journalism. What cities have you worked in during your journalism career? Eugene, Las Vegas, Spokane and Seattle. What’s the most memorable story you’ve ever covered? I once did a report at a lottery line along the NV-CA border where I asked a random man what he would do if he won the jackpot, only to have him tell me live on TV that he would get a new wife! What are you most proud of in your career in news? What I'm most proud of in my news career is the same reason why I enjoy my career: Being able to connect with communities and listen to different perspectives everyday. What’s something people don’t know about you? (For example, a hidden talent, interest, fun fact, or volunteer work that’s important to you) Before starting my broadcasting career, I spent a few years traveling in Asia where I accidentally ended up being featured in Season 8 of Pékin Express (a French version of The Amazing Race) What do you like to do when you’re not working? When I'm not road tripping around the Pacific Northwest, I'm either reading, at a concert, playing my ukulele or practicing my French or Korean language skills.
